ANGEL WITCH (eng)
How do you introduce legends? By letting them speak through their music of course! Metal Magic proudly presents this New Wave of British Heavy Metal legend at this year’s festival. Ever since the band released their seminal debut “Angel Witch” in 1981, it has been part of the NWOBHM movement that so many have tried to copy unsuccessfully ever since. This band has had many ups and downs during their long career, but the music has never lost its magic, as Angel Witch has proved through countless tours and festivals all over the world. Now the audience will have the chance to experience the band up close. Legends never die.
ROOT (cze)
There is one more legend to introduce. In 1987, behind the iron curtain in the Czech Republic, Root was formed and has since been inspiration for hundreds of bands worldwide. Lead singer and unquestionable front figure in the band during all these years is Jiri ”Big Boss” Valter, whose charismatic presence has secured Root a position as creators, and not imitators on the international metal scene. No band sounds like Root, as you will witness yourselves when the band performs as the second of the two headliners at this years festival.
EVIL (den)
Together with Mercyful Fate, Evil were the spearheads of Danish heavy metal in the early eighties. With their uncompromising and dark metal, the band quickly gained a reputation as a band that were to be taken seriously. The big breakthrough never came but the music of the band has endured the test of time and Evil is today regarded as one of the cult bands that helped to create the European metal scene.
FATE (den)
Through 25 years, Fate has brought their hard rocking music to the masses. Always with a hunch for great melodies and the mindset that music should feel good and do good, Fate has released albums and toured the world for years and years. In other words, this is a band with lots and lots of musical experience that heads to Fredericia this summer. The band is currently working on a brand new album and we’ll probably be treated with a couple of tasters from that if we’re lucky.
DENIAL OF GOD (den)
Since 1991 Denmark’s oldest black metal band Denial of God has been spreading horror to the anticipating masses. This band has never cared for trends and opinion makers but worked solely towards creating their very own sound and world of terror. Many have tried to copy this band and many more have been drawn into their unrelenting darkness. When Denial of God plays at this years Metal Magic Festival they will not only perform their unique song material but also present an exclusive visual stage show. A bloody night of terror is guaranteed!!
DARKENED NOCTURN SLAUGHTERCULT (ger)
If bestial brutality is best described through music, German Darkened Nocturn Slaughtercult are among the best describers. For more than 10 years, this band has delivered black metal with a level of intensity and furiousness that most bands only dare dream of. A brand new album, the fifth from the band, ”Saldorian Spell” was recently released and this release underlined the fact that these Germans haven’t reached the limit for brutality and pure musical darkness yet.
ANGANTYR (den)
It is actually possible to make raw and pure black metal with epic melodies without lame keyboards. Angantyr is living proof for that. After a European tour with Taake in the spring, Angantyr headed by mastermind Ynleboraz should be a guarantee for a sombre experience that will satisfy any black metal fan.
IN SOLITUDE (swe)
From dark and occult swamps In Solitude arises and brings forth the servants of darkness. Have you ever wondered what Pentagram and Witchfinder General in combination would sound like? It would sound something like In Solitude. Doom and analogue attitude from the seventies are the key words here, and with these virtues from the past, this Swedish band is a damn good example on what doom for the future should sound like.
RISING DUST (fra)
Hailing from Paris, Rising Dust will hit you like a 20 ton truck in the face. The mantra is doom and rock n’ roll for this quartet that has no desire for clinical productions and sterile songs. With sweat, balls and a hell of a lot of heaviness, Rising Dust is an unstoppable force that never looses sight of the great song. Fans that miss Trouble like they used to be should not miss out on Rising Dust.
TRIBULATION (swe)
Swedish death metal bands are as common as dirt. But very few bands in the world combines old school death metal with horror movie ambience and haunting melodies like Tribulation does. This band is capable of creating vicious death metal that with unrelentlessly will strike you were it hurts the most.
HOODED PRIEST (hol/bel)
The term cult band is used far too often these days and is far too often applied to bands that aren’t cult at all. Hooded Priest is the quintessence of cult! Music and image is completing each other beautifully and in combination create doom so dark and occult that The Devil Himself is licking his lips with his cleaved tongue.
A new album entitled ”Devil Worship Reckoning” is underway which corresponds with the band’s previous releases. Doom until the end!
TRENCH HELL (aus)
The typical Australian band is the band that sounds like no other band. Therefore Trench Hell is quite a typical Australian band. Their semi-chaotic blend of heavy, speed, black and thrash metal is very much their own, and the audience will have the chance to experience pure aggression and melodies of the finest quality. This is music for made for banging and partying, and isn’t that what we all really want?
STRYCHNOS (den)
Few bands have been able to combine creativity and a unique sound with such crushing brutality as Strychnos from Denmark. After a long break the band is now back with a new album on the way and a show at Metal Magic Festival. Those who have had a chance to listen to the coming release ”Undead Unsouls Unbound” have no doubt. Strychnos have reached new heights and a once again setting the standard for brutality. With new songs and their usual extreme live shows, this will be one of the memorable experiences of the year.
STARRATS (den)
Not without a certain amount of pride, Metal Magic presents the award winning rock n’ rollers from Star Rats to this years’ festival. The band will travel Europe throughout the summer and show everyone who ballsy rock music is delivered. Their debut album ”Screw the Consequences” has just been released, and shows how adrenaline fuelled rock must be. A mist of sweat and alcohol will surround the stage when Star Rats enter. They will take no prisoners.
THE CLEANSING (den)
It is experienced musicians that make up The Cleansing. Their debut album “Poisoned Legacy” shows all too clearly that these lads from Copenhagen have transformed that mighty musical experience into uncompromisingly brutal death metal. With technical flair and mind numbing speed, The Cleansing is quickly gathering a following of fans all over the nations. Rest asure, this band will blow the last senses out of you with the same surgical precision they deliver their music.
MARERIDT (den)
ALTAR OF OBLIVION (den)
Altar of Oblivion from Denmark is on a mission to combine the doom of old days with the melodies of heavy metal from the eighties. Mission is accomplished beyond al expectations as the band’s debut album “Sinews of Anguish – Opus 1 in D-Minor” proves all too clearly. But it doesn’t stop there. The band is currently working on the follow up album that will contain quite a few surprises. It will be very exciting to see what Altar of Oblivion has in store for us in Fredericia. A guarantee for epic doom with grandiose melodies.
HÜRLEMENT (fra)
France delivers so much more than wine. Metal Magic has secured a show from one of the most solid metal bands the country has to offer. Hürlement takes the best (i.e. the most heavy!) elements from the mighty NWOBHM gods and throws them into a lethal cocktail of killer riffs, hypnotizing melodies and metal vocals that makes Rob Halford proud. Bang Your Head for Hürlement!
INFINITE TRANSLATION (fra)
Why try to conceal something obvious? Infinite Translation plays thrash metal like it was played in the 80’ies. So be prepared for sharp riffing, cutting solos and shit loads of aggression. Trends come and go, but the thrash that came out of America more then 25 years ago lives on. Infinite Translation will prove that for you when they deliver songs from their debut album “Impulsive Attack”.
BATTERY (den)
Battery continues where bands like Kreator and Nuclear Assault left: with raw aggression. This young trio from Denmark isn’t interested in sterile productions and click-tracks. This is true thrash as raw as it’s meant to be and fans will have the opportunity to witness it themselves at this year’s festival. The band has just released a brand new demo called “Born in a Beaker”.
WRENCH (den)
What does Truck n’ roll spund like? Like Wrench of course! This band is all about balls, attitude and sweat driving hard rocking metal. Wrench couldn’t give a fuck even if they wanted, they belong to no one and proof for that statement is their music and outstanding live shows. The band members have parked their Harleys by a recording studio and are working on their debut album. It’s out by the time Wrench invades Fredericia in a cloud of exhaust fumes and beer.
2 SKÆVE FYRE (nor)
TRUE NORWEGIAN DANISH RAP!
